Given the demanding requirements that led to the creation of the original 1 Series, it may sound surprising that we’ve been able to obtain even higher performance from more compact enclosures at more affordable prices… the 100 Series is physical proof this is possible.
The new 100 Series introduces a number of improvements and evolutionary changes all focused on refining the listening experience at the same time as providing a more room friendly loudspeaker. We’ve introduced our WDT tweeter assembly from the AE1 Active, which creates far better in-room dispersion, as well as locating our slot ports to the rear for less midrange colouration and improved bass response. At the same time, the external design has been improved for a more elegant appearance and smaller footprint that should work well in a wide variety of surroundings. With higher quality fit and finish than ever before available from our entry level ranges, new colour and vinyl options and neat magnetic grilles the visual appeal is higher than ever.
The result is a stylish and more powerful range of speakers that embodies all of the qualities that Acoustic Energy is renowned for while taking advantage of everything that we have learned in our continuous process of development.
The AE108 is a new, compact, yet extremely powerful active subwoofer with remote control for easy set-up and adjustability.
Designed to work seamlessly as part of a multi channel system including the new AE100’s, AE109’s and AE107, the AE108 is ideal for the modern home where controlled bass performance is required without compromising the living space.
At less than one cubic foot in size, the AE108 can be positioned discretely and adjusted with the supplied remote control to achieve the ideal audio balance from the listening position. Finished in a choice of satin black or walnut vinyl veneer finishes, the AE108 delivers a bass punch that belies its compact size.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The 110mm bass/mid driver used in the 100 Series has been developed with a high power, long excursion motor to provide satisfying volume levels and bass extension from relatively compact enclosures. The doped paper cone enables a higher crossover point for smoother mid-range and seamless crossover with the tweeter, creating extremely high fidelity, detailed and above all musical sound reproduction.
The 100 Series uses sturdy 18mm MDF enclosures with carefully tuned bracing, reducing harmful resonances whilst retaining body and substance from compact, practical cabinets. The rear slot porting enhances smooth bass extension with minimal room impact, allowing easy placement. The AE109 and AE120 feature inert mass-loading for additional stability and acoustic damping, all models come supplied with slim magnetic grilles.
